DJUGL December

What?

DJUGL is the sometimes monthly meetup of the Django User Group in London. Expect a gathering of Django users and developers, some interesting short talks and hopefully a few slices of pizza.

Speakers

  • What’s coming in Django 1.2Simon Willison talking about what’s coming up in the next major Django release
  • Running Django with AWS – a talk from Tim Davey of onefinestay.com about how Amazon Web Services can fail safe your applications.
  • Two short talks from Chris Lamb on django-lint, a static analysis tool for Django projects and django-fuse, a Django application to create virtual file systems
  • Michael Brunton Spall on Asynchronous programming on Google App Engine – Twitter is slow, Google App Engine has request timeout limits. A lightening talk on solving this dilema using App Engine Task Queues.

We’re still on the lookout for anyone who fancies doing a slot for the next event or at some point the future. Anything from a ten minute slot up to half an hour is probably best.

When?

3rd December 2009.

Doors will open at 6:30pm. The talks will start at 7pm and will go on till 8:30pm or so. We’ll hopefully then find a local beer serving venue to carry on the conversation. Or just argue about whatever happens to be cool this week.

Their Open Platform and Datastore projects puts them in a unique position in the media and among online data repositories. Their open approach of providing APIs, accompanied by client libraries in the web’s most popular languages and swathes of online documentation, makes them a great choice for hosting Djugl
